2006 Cat 350 c-7, 20,000 miles

On 2 seperate occassions, months apart, I stepped on pedal and engine wouldn't accellerate from a stopped position, just idled. 1st time it accellerated after abount 3-4 seconds. 2nd time it took about 20 seconds. Engine was low on oil, can low oil pressure cause this ? Idle oil pressure was around 25. Its due for a oil change

Here is what my manual says
The amber check engine indicator light (CHECK ENGINE
legend) illuminates when certain faults are detected.
If a critical engine condition exists (for example,
low oil pressure or high coolant temperature),
the check engine light will illuminate to alert the
driver to correct the condition as soon as possible. If
the condition gets worse, the engine protection light
will illuminate.

In engine protect mode I believe you just get enough power to get to the side of the road. Low coolant put me in the same no power condition.

If you check engine light/engine protection light was not on ; you could be looking at a poor connection the the TPS or the TPS itself ( throttle possion sensor ) this could be brought on by high, temp or humidity, the first connector is the easiest to check. Follow the wiring from the foot pedal up to the dash harness, open the multiple connector and inspect for corrosion/dis-coloration of the contact pins. These pins can be cleaned with color TV tuner contact spray if necessary. The connections in the main harness and to the ECM would be best left to a pro. if your issues continue. A tech with the proper equipment can test your TPS for "clean" signal to the ECM ( engine control Module ) if the problem become more frequent.
