My Freightliner chassis temperature gauge has 200 printed in the center of its range of travel. It stays right there on level roads. Up about 10 on long hills and down 10-15 down hill. My Scangauge shows variations of 3-4 degrees on the level I attribute to the thermostats moving. Thermostats are a variable opening device so there should not be very much temperature movement as they throttle the water flow.

Cat says change them every three years. Do they ever attach a miles or gallons of fuel burned recommendation to that like they do for oil changes. Doesn't make much sense to change thermostats if the coach has only gone 1000 miles in 3 years for example.

That gallons of fuel burned caught me by surprise for oil changes. I had read somewhere that for a shallow pan (19 qts) C-7 the oil should be changed every 11,000 miles. Then I found out they also say OR 1100 gallons of fuel burned. SO if you get 7 mpg and that is not uncommon the interval should be 7700 miles. Oops. I also found out they recommend 10-30 oil for most temperature areas.
