Water pump belt adjustment bolt
Oh boy! Went to tighten water pump belt and broke off the pivot bolt, looks like I got my work cut out to get it out. I was wondering if a guy could put a stud bolt with a nut instead of the bolt. A guy could anti-sieze the nut and it might be a better set-up. Just looking for thoughts on this. Jim

Uhm.... That belt isn't on a tension/idler? If so.. wondering why you were tightening the tensioner center bolt..

The water pump belt is not on a tensioner, it is a swing arm type. One end has a pivot bolt and the other end has a slot that a bolt slides through. You loosen both and pivot it until the belt is tight and then tighten both bolts. Jim

94-Newmar has a Cummins , and his water pump is driven by the serp belt.

You might be right but he says he has a CAT 330.

You are correct. We are looking at different posts. I was thinking about post 1 and you were commenting on post 2.

The OP has a Cat per post #1. I am very familiar with that bolt. Nearly impossible to get a wrench on it. I had a loose belt and with a tool box full from working as a mechanic for years I didn't have a tool that would get on it. Took it to the Cat shop and had them adjust it.
