What's the first thing I should do with my C9?

Hi all,

I'm about to take delivery of a coach with a C9 in the back.

I'm in Houston.

There is a Cat dealer right near me on highway 290.

And I'm wondering, when I take delivery, are there any recommended actions that I take right out of the gate (other than pressing the gas pedal )

Thanks for all of your advice.

It's a manual, and yes.

If you checked all fluid levels, just drive it. If curious, you could get an oil analysis to see the state of the oil and engine. Congratulations on the new rig.

If you have a good set of records then I would go by them, but if they look like someone just started putting things down start out new.
When I got my Cat 400 C9 with 17,000mi on it the oil and filter had 1500mi on it BUT it was over a year, so I change the oil and filter with the same as they used, Mobil Delvac 1300 15w40 and went to Cat and got the oil filter and fuel filters (2 sets) then I went to Cummins and got my Hyd filter for the steering and hyd fan. Had the air dryer changed and the (wet PTO installed, a Country Coach thing) I had them change the air dryer because you have to dump all the air, with air leveling no room under it to work plus they chaged the trans filters at Country Coach.
If you are over 40,000mi and the valves had not been adjusted you need to do it.
I changed
1. Motor oil and filters ( pulled oil sample and sent into Cat-all good)
2. Fuel filters-2
3. Hyd filters-3
4. Air filter
5. Greased it
Then I got a new set of Michelin 295/80R-22.5 through FMCA
Need to get on the roof and check all seals and clearance lights for possible bad spots
I just had the Not-So-Cold changed out to the Samsung 197, one of the best moves I have made so far plus the wife loves it
Hope this helps

There is a tank on the right side at the rear of the coach and it is black with a dip stick. It has a C clap ring remove the lid inside there are 3 Nelson filter that are stacked. Remove the big wing nut, small lid, spring then pull out the filters. On my canister it said to change ever 6000mi and use Dexron 2 but that is no longer made so it is Dexron 3.
It is for the power steering and the oil that drives the Hyd fan.

Don't' forget the air drier filter. Should be changed every two years or so.
