I'm installing a boost gauge on my 2005 C-7 and wondering where to tap into for boost pressure. My engine access hatch is small and hard to see the intake manifold area, I was hoping to find a pipe plug in the intake somewhere and use that for my gauge connection.

Hopefully some of you that have already done this can give me some input.

Thanks John

I have been considering one for my coach. What brand did you get and where?

I'm installing a pyrometer and boost gauge. I went with this one WESTACH - 2" COMBO GAUGE - HIGH OUTPUT - BOOST/EGT (1/8NPT)-Dodge Cummins Diesel Truck Accessories – Geno’s Garage. Two gauges in one, that way I only had to drill one hole in my already crowded dash.

John - I installed the boost fitting in the metal air tube that runs from the turbo to the charge air cooler. I looked at both top and bottom sides & both sides of the engine. I could easily get to a portion of the air tube from underneath on the drivers side. The area is a couple inches in front of the charge air cooler connection. On mine there is plenty of access for a power drill in that area. I did magnetize the drill bit and went slow cleaning off the magnetic pieces every couple of turns since I did not want any metal particles inside the tube.

Thanks Bob, I was hoping there was an extra port on the engine to plumb into. I looked around the intake manifold with a mirror and flashlight but didn't see anything.

Is the intake tube thick enough to tap threads for a pipe fitting?
