4000 series trans
Any Pros and or Cons of the Allison 4000 transmission mated to the Cummins X15 motor?

Do you have a choice? Not sure anyone else offers a transmission for that engine in a motorhome.

If Allison's maintenance recommendations are followed, it is extremely unlikely that you will ever have a problem with the transmission itself.
"Transmission problems" in motorhomes are more likely to be in the supporting wiring installed by the coach builder. There can abuse and neglect problems, but those are not controlled by Allison.

I guess I should of stated that I knew the 4000 was the only option. I wanted to know if anyone had any issues with the trans that I should be on the look out for.

The 4000 is a bulletproof transmission. I did change my filters and fluid at approximately 60k because the original fluid looked bad and had a slight burned smell to it. I do realize that many recommend fluid sampling and I support that thought but the Coach was new to me at the time and I wanted to know where I stood with all fluids and filters. To me new fluid is cheap insurance.

Believe Allison is recommending changing oil to Transynd or equivalent in older coaches. Believe many newer coaches came filled with synthetic oil.

They have been putting Transynd in new coaches for over 10 years. We had an '09 AC Allegiance, made in '08, and it had Transynd.

I've had two motorhomes with the 4000 series Allison, both were mated with the "M" series Cummins. One motorhome had close to 200,000 miles when traded. Other motorhome has 50,000 miles on it. I've crossed the country a number of times, including an Alaska trip, driven in cold weather, hot weather, mountains etc. No issues with either one.
Just want to add...the 200,000 mile Allison always had nothing but Dexron in it.
