I have been having trouble for two years with the shifting on our 93 Safari. At first it just wouldn't go back in gear if it was switched to "N". Then, it wouldn't even go into gear unless it was tried at the same time as the engine was started. Once it was in gear it seemed to be just fine unless it was put in N. Now, it won't even go in gear at all. The lights show either 6 or R but the left indication only stays in N. I pulled the module out and unplugged it. It looks clean and no sign of corrosion anywhere. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

If this is a diesel:
Check your idle speed- if it is too high- it won't shift.
Check the return spring on the linkage- there should be two.
