Allison 1000 question
After sitting for a couple week between trips, I prepare for take off; start engine, engine idles, slides in, jacks up, etc. Once ready to leave foot on brake, parking brake off, put in drive, Nothing, no movement, also noted trans light in on.
To correct, put trans back in Park, turn engine off wait a couple seconds, turn engine back on, all is well!!!
This has happened about 4 times in the 3 1/2 years I have had it.
Any comments???
Thanks,

I have had a couple of odd incidents with the Allison, years apart and no pattern.
1.) Preparing to leave for a trip, put it in gear and the engine labored and no serious movement. Acted like it was in third or fourth when it should have been in first. Shut if off, waited for a minute, turned it back on and it never happened again.
2.) Coming home after a long trip, downshifting for a signal, acted like it was in neutral. Signal changed and it still acted like it was in neutral. Shut off, wait and go. No more occurences.
Still love the trans but always kind of wonder what's next.

That exact same thing happened to me after sitting idle for a couple of months. I was heading to the WH service center for annual state inspection so I had them do a scan. No error codes were found. Never happened since. Probably will when we get ready to leave for Florida in a couple of weeks

On my dodge transmission the pump does not run when in park. Under the same situation I would shift to neutral for 30seconds and then drive. When it has sat for a long time all the fluid goes downhill and has to be pumped back up.

Mine does the same thing when hooking up the boat. so did the 03 Duramax I had before the 06. I have a mirrow that sits on the tailgate and I can see the ball in the rear view mirrow. This is a great help when hooking up by myself. I got it when we had a TT. Get a fifth wheel and the truck going back never makes any difference.
