Allison 1000 trans
I have a 2003 Pace Arrow 37A with a Allison 1000 transmission. Can the transmission be reset (relearned)? If so, is it something an owner/operator do? And where would you find the instructions/procedures? Thanks.

Disconnecting the batteries will remove power to the trans and engine computer.
Whats going on, that your trans needs to "relearn"?

You need Allison DOC to reset the Fast Adapts. So no it's not something the average owner can do.

in the high grear (D), the engine speed is around 2600 rpm. I sucks up the gasoline at about 8 mpg. Also, the unit is empty with the exception of the Gas Tank which is full (75 gallons) and the Propane cylinder which is about half full.
I'd like to increase the MPG and have the RPM somewhere around 1500.

From my experience I'd say 8 MPG for a 37 fter not bad.
Allisons generally know what's best and doubt reset will help.
Reset not something for DIY - takes a certified dealer w/ the right software
What you want and whats realistic may be the issue.
Sorry for the bad news - welcome to MHing

At 60 miles per hour my RPMs are about 2100 so you must be running pretty fast.
I've averaged 7.1 mpg over 80,000 miles and would love to see 8mpg plus but I don't think that's going to happen.
I disconnect my engine battery with a blade switch and it has no affect on the transmission shifting, no relearning involved as far as I can tell.

Without adding another gear to the transmission the only way to get 2100 in high gear ( O/D) is to set your cruise control with the RPM at 2100.
MPG is directly a function of your right foot.

Using cruise control is not a very good way at all to optimize mileage.

I'm not sure what that means. I use the cruise all the time except climbing steeper hills and even then if I can be enough on the ball to turn the OD off, the cruise will keep me at the target speed without downshifting.
Am I doing it wrong for best MPG?

Not by my experience , or the first page of this article from Caterpillar .
Cummins , produced a similar document. But I don't have a copy.
"utilize cruise control as much as possible "
Not only does ; cruise control keep me from speeding, but at towing speed in CA. I-5, 55 mph ( Actually 58 to hold trans in 6th ) the old bus will get 9.5 mpg. Won't come close on other roads .
The document is worth a read , no matter what you drive.
