Allison 2500 economy mode

Is the tranny in economy mode when the red light is on or off? No matter what mode it is in, when I turn the ignition off, then on it defaults to red light off.
My guess is the default is not economy mode, red light off.

Here's the manual for the Allison 2000 series, it suggests the red light is a malfunction indicator, I think. There are a number of gear selector styles available for the AT 2500, from shift levers to button pads. I suggest you read this manual to figure out what the light means.

On my 3000 it is in economy mode with the light on and I do have to turn it on after starting the engine.

I can tell a big difference in the acceleration with it off. It winds up a bit more before shifting. I have it off most of the time. On the freeway is the only time it is used for me.
