When should you do the fluid change on the MH3000? I have 03 Damon Ultrasport 3889 with only 50,000 miles.

Next time, get a hose and attach it to the funnel and shove the other end down the filler tube. Make the hose long enough so you can tie the funnel up to a ladder so that it is above the filler tube and all goes well.

BRONCO2009,
You can go to Allison and enter your serial number and get information on your build. They also have the recommended change intervals ect. I changed mine at 44000 because I had no maint history. I had an oil sample run and everything was good but the viscosity was slightly degraded. I decided to change it and now I have a good starting point for the season.

You Da MAN!

You know, that's why I keep coming back to this site. So many great ideas.

The funnel I used has a 4 foot hose on it and I have a ton of bungee cords and several ladders....... All I can say is 'Duh, Why didn't I think of that?'

Will I remember this in 3 years? I will now! I ended up with $10 worth of Transynd all over our toad, and had to pay another $15 for a car wash to get it off. And another $20 for the degreaser I used on the radiator. Duh indeed!

I changed mine out yesterday and it was a hot job. It really wasn't hard, just time consuming. At least tinkering around I figured out that I had the fluid sensor on the coach so I learned how to check fluid status from the dash panel. After adding fluid and running the engine, I shifted thru all the gears a few times, and ended up with 20 qts to get it full and with it hot. Now I know the dipstick is correct and that the dash readout works correctly. Won't have to mess with this for a long, long time. Now I have to replace the coolant to ELC, get a a/c compressor line replaced, and change the filters.....always something to do....

I changed my 3000mh today fairly simple takes about 2hours besides normal 15mm socket 3/8 ratchet and a gasket scraper knife.

Yes it's not much harder than changing the engin oil. Just be realley carful using a metal scraper on the alumanim filter holders. You could scratch them deep enough to creat a leak path that you can't seal with the paper gasket.

Good point I was and I forgot to say you will also need a torque wrench.

Good advice here as usual. Just changed my filters and fluid and am having a really difficult time seeing where the fluid level is on the dipstick. By the time that 6' dipstick makes all the bends it ends up with fluid all over it. Once I get it on the road and warmed up I can check it with the auto check but am trying to see if I am close. Anybody have a trick up your sleeve to make this a little more simple? BTW, it says it takes 16 qt with the 2" sump. I assume that is the amount without the converter and cooling lines etc being drained. Is that correct?

Thanks - Harv
