I just ordered a Transmission Fluid Analysis kit and a fluid extraction pump from JG Lubricants so I can get my Transynd analyzed. I'm due for fluid replacement based on time but not on mileage. The fluid looks really clean, so I'm betting that analysis will show I'm fine for another year and probably more.

JG gives IRV2 members a 5% discount - enter "IRV2" as the coupon code when checking out.

Get the "Advanced" kit for tranny fluid analysis and the red [oil] extraction pump if you need one.

Thanks for the pdf link, Mike. I chose the "Advanced" level of test kit from JR because it includes TAN and other items specified by Allison.

Gosh, I wonder who it could have been. Probably some crusty retired guy (lol) who adds Transysd in his coffee every morning.

His retirement would be more lucrative if he could drink Dex III and pee Transynd.

Tom, I just woke up to the fact that you are the President and Owner of JG Lubricant Services and your company tests engine oil, transmission fluids and coolant. The big thing people should know is that you give 5% discount to IRV2 members.

A question for you.....in your company's analysis of transmission fluids can you tell if it is Transynd or Dexron?

Check it out at:

Mike,
If it's brand new DEXRON-III, then it's difficult to determine based on our series of tests. If it's been in the transmission for awhile, then we can see the sheardown (viscosity loss). If it's experienced viscosity loss then it's not TranSynd. The only way to really tell for sure is to run some more sophisticated tests which most folks couldn't afford. This would be looking at Flash Point, Fire Point and what's called Brookfield Viscosity at -55C (-67F). We could also use IR (Infra-Red) to look for the diester seal swellant. Mostly we go by viscosity loss which is pretty accurate.

Hope this helps !

Only two major ones I would trust.
1. JG Lubricant Services
2. Blackstone Laboratories

the thing i like about blackstone labs is that they will send you their sampling kit free.
you pay when you send your sample to them to be analyzed.
not so with jg labs.

Blackstone Labs

Another source is WearCheck International, who I've used for years.

Dan, with the JG Lubricant Service doesn't buying the sample kit also pay for the testing service?
