I will do as much of the routine and non-routine maintenance work as I can. Besides enjoying it, it gives me peace of mind as I know it was done right. Only if I can't figure it out, under warranty or if I am uncomfortable doing it will my rig ever see the din of a repair shop.
Just as an aside to the entire topic of maintenance, I am totally convinced that storing an RV in a fully enclosed garage with heat/humidity controls makes a huge difference in keeping non routine maintenance of the chassis and house to a minimum. I know if you live in the south, that can be expensive to do, especially the heat and humidity part, but I am convinced of it. My cars, motorcycles and RVs have always been garaged when not in use and for 45 years, and I can see the results. And it makes sense, does it not?
