Allison Transmission (1000)--Fluid Test

I recently purchased a MH and I am doing all the fluid and filter changes for my own piece of mind. I am not sure if the previous owner used TRANSYND or DEXRON 3. Is there a way to tell or maybe even test the fluid to see what kind it is?

Thanks in advance for any replies!!

Call any heavy truck shop. They should be able to recomend a test facility.

There is no visible test to determine Transynd/Dexron.

I believe you are sort of incorrect. When I sent my fluid in for an analysis I was told specially that it was was Not a Tes295 fluid (TranSynd) but was an older technology fluid more than likely Dextron III and that was already showing early signs of breaking down. JGLubricant Services did my analysis. You can email Tom and ask him any questions about your fluid he will be happy to help.
