Any way to save on replacing an ECU

I just paid Allison $900 to send a tech 70 miles and tell me I need a new ECU for the transmission. (2001 Monaco Knight, 315 Cummins).

I'm kind of over a barrel because the coach is an hour from home taking up room at a RV sales lot. A new ECU and programing is going to run another $3K or more. Any ideas on saving some money without having to leave the unit where it is too long?

I don't see how you would want to cheap out on a TCM or anything so important.

There used to be a place in the Dallas area (Grapevine or Flowermound) that claimed they could fix your ECU for $300. If they don't fix it, you don't pay.

I'll have to see if I can find their website.

OK... here ya go...

Transmission Instruments

Please note I have never used these guys, but a few years ago, after paying close to $4grand on an ECU of my own, I found this website. I save the link just in case I ever needed it again.

If you use these guys, please return here and let us know the results.

Thanks you all for the help. I ended up getting a new ECU from Detroit Allison. They came off the price a little and I picked it up and installed it myself. Another problem eliminated and on to the next one.
