Can you put a straight edge across the split line and measure the hot band from there?

Thanks !!
You state that "I determined this by measuring the amount the dipstick protrudes past the transmission housing. This distance is 2 7/8 inches (73 mm). See my markup. Can you define your reference point on the drawing?

I determined this distance by removing the pan gasket and placing a small machinist square on the transmission housing and measuring to the tip of the dipstick with it inserted to its normal position in the dipstick tube.

Can you put a straight edge across the split line and measure the hot band from there?

I cannot measure up the tube with any degree of accuracy. From the drawing it would seem the top of the Hot Run zone is supposed to be 30 mm from the Oil Pan Split Line. If the Oil Pan Split Line is considered to be the surface on which the pan gasket lies and the distance from the top of the Hot Run zone to the tip of my dipstick is 91mm and 73 mm of the dipstick is protruding past the Oil Pan Split Line, then the top of the Hot Run zone is only 18 mm up from the Oil Pan Split Line--which makes all the factory marks on the dipstick 12 mm deeper in the fluid than they should be.
