I have an 06 Dutch Star DP with a 400 Cummins and a 3000mh Allison. Can anyone tell my if I can install a PTO on the transmission, and if I will face any problems down the road?

If it were me I'd ask Allison that question.

SOTA - I am curious. What do you have in mind that you would need a PTO?

I believe most Allision Transmissions do have a PTO option. However what's involved in installing one I have no clue. Might need to replace the entire tranny to do it.

As the other poster said. How come you need PTO?

The reason I ask is ... there may be another option that is easier.

a shop that deals with heavy trucks should have the parts or tell you if your tranmissions is capable of accepting a pto..

good luck

I have a PTO off my transmission to drive a hydraulic pump. It came that way from Monaco. If you are interested in more data then email me at mike.c@mindspring.com and I will email you all the data on it.

Yes you can have a pto, just make sure whoever installes it takes the time to shim it right. It is more critical because of the alum case.

I have the Chelsea 267 Ten Bolt PTO off the side of my Allison 4000 and there are zero shims. Just use a special one thickness metal gasket. There is NO backlash to adjust on these units.

Chelsea PTO models: 267, 269, 867 and 897 series 10-Bolt constant mesh.
