Confusing Adaptive Shifts Procedure
I'm new to driving a Diesel Pusher so maybe what I think is abnormal might be perfectly normal. The tranny seems to up shift too soon and downshift too late. From a dead stop, normal acceleration from a traffic light, it is in 6th gear by the time it reaches 45mph. Ascending moderate interstate uphill grades it doesn't seem to downshift unless I go Wide Open throttle.
So, I started reading about The Allison Adaptive Shifts learning procedure and I say I find it quite confusing. Maybe it's the unfamiliar terminology. It says to accelerate wide open throttle to 1-2 then decelerate 2-1, then do it again 2-3 and then 3-2 and so forth and so on. Its too confusing and then where would one find a place to perform all those steps.
Can someone direct me to a less complicated version?
My rig is a 40' 2006 Itasca Horizon with Allison 3000 6 speed, Cummins 8.9 Turbo 400, on a Freightliner evolution chassis.
Thanks
Jerry
