2004 Winnebago Sightseer 35N Workhorse Chassis 8.1L. Not sure what model Allison Transmission.
Coach took a lightning strike. Had to take it to Winnebago in Forest City Iowa for a total roof replacement. The transmission will not downshift when climbing hills(Pocono Mountains
in PA).If in cruise control coach will slow down until cruise control drops out (no downshift)around 43ph +/- 2. If not in cruise it will not downshift. Another problem which may or may not be Transmission associated is the Instrument cluster LCD display remains in "D" no matter what transmission selection is made. While at Winnebago an attempt was made to diagnose/duplicate the shifting problem but there are no hills there to test it on can not duplicate in this part of country; issue not resolved. The instrument cluster was removed & replaced by Winnebago & still had the same problem; my original cluster was re-installed. Winnebago states that it does not have the capability to diagnose any further than what they have allready completed; issue not resolved. Coach has 20,000miles on it. Has anyone experienced/resolved either of these issues???

You need to get that replaced and you'll be good to go "IF" you didn't fry any electronics inside the transmission.

You need to find a service center that has a laptop computer that can read your TCM. Allison is the best source for that!

Thank you for your reply DriVer. Leaving in morning to get back to MA. Going to talk to my local dealership to find an Allison contact.

Was your failure also associated with a lightning strike ? Instrument cluster also ?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

We will be enroute fo a few days internet access??
