Finding out what Allison tranny I have

Where do I look to figure out what Allison transmission is in my motor home. We do a lot of pulling and need to change in 2004 Tiffin phantom home. Or who to ask even.

Best to crawl under and get serial number right there on the side and call Allison for proper filters.

Good idea to contact Allison. This way they can also confirm the oil capacity since it can vary depending on the sump size

Get you transmission serial number and go to the following website.

https://www.allisontransmission.com/

Scroll down to My Transmission, insert your serial number and get all the info including component part numbers.

What allison do i have?

Hi All!!

I have a 2003 HR Vacationer 34PBD. It's a gas engine -- 8.1 Workhorse. This thing is on a W22 Workhorse chassis. The coach has low miles on it - 23,600. The big problem I'm encountering is that the previous owners didn't do a lot of the maintenance. So it's catch up time.

Now does anyone happen to know what Allison transmission was used on this coach? I also need to know what type of fluid is in the transmission. Or should I slither under and try to find the tranny serial number which isn't easy to do.

Thanks & I look forward to

To the best of my knowledge 8.1l in a W-22 chassis was only available with the 1000 Series Allison Trans. Same as GM pick-ups with the same engine.
2003 trans may have non synthetic trans fluid, check the trans fluid dipstick for oil type info.

George: according to the build sheet for your chassis, you have the Allison 1000 series (5 speed). It came from WCC loaded with Dexron III, but you should change it over to one of the fluids meeting Allson standard TES-295, if that has not been done by the PO. It won't be cheap, but your tranny will thank you. Ed
