Have to press very hard on Allison 3060 shift selector

As the title says. To shift between N and D or R I have to strain to get it to register.

Is it likely that I need to replace my 24 year old six speed shift module for about $250 or can I repair it in some manner?

I remember reading about a company that rebuilt them but it was about the same as you posted.

If you want it fixed properly, go here. Drove my formally inoperable one today...still works great.

Dirty contacts. Carefully pry it apart. Use electronics spray cleaner and new clean rag. Done this on several remotes.

Thanks for the helpful replies all.

I drove the rig yesterday at 70+ degrees and it shifted and responded fine.

I guess it is like me. Gets stiff and cranky when its 40 degrees outside (yes, and a former Minnesotan).

I will try the electronics cleaner task also.

Call them and talk to them about the problems you are having.
