MT 643 Torque Converter Nuts Access??

I have a 95 Bluebird Q bus motorhome. I need to drop the MT643 transmission but can't figure out how to get access to the flywheel/torque converter nuts. It is a Cummins 5.9 engine. There is an access plate on the left side of the engine but the nuts are way in toward the center of the crankshaft and are barely visible thru the access hole but not enough showing to allow removal. Does anybody know how to get access to get the nuts off so I can pull the transmission?

Thanks, Phil Swanson

If my link didn't help, suggest you find a local school bus garage with a fleet of rear engine buses. They should be able to suggest a solution.

Tried that. Access even worse thru the starter hole, unfortunately. Have any of you guys split an MT643 and a 5.9 Cummins? You probably ran into this.

Thanks, Phil Swanson

Solved it! I got on to the Cummins Quick Serve website and took a closer look at the converter and flexplate drawing. I found out that I had an adapter in between the two. After rotating the engine, I saw the bolts between the adapter and the flexplate. These 6 bolts had easy access. Problem solved and bolts removed.

Thanks, Phil Swanson
