mt653 torque lock up

hiya! question i have a mt 653 bolted up to a 95 ford med truck chassie the issue i have is when you put the unit into gear it will stall out put it into first with some throttle it will start going than shift to drive its fine as soon as you step on the brake will stall so im thinking the torque is locked up but am not sure if this has a locking TC or if it is electronicaly controlled?

The lockup clutch on the MT653 is hydraulically controlled. You probably have a stuck or burnt lockup clutch in the torque converter. It is possible the lockup relay valve in the valve body is stuck, but given the age of the vehicle, you are probably looking at a major repair.
