Tell me why you think you need a solenoid. The solenoids control shift valves in the transmission and over drive is 5th and 6th gears. You may possibly have an overdrive switch, this locks the trans out of 5th range. If you are not getting 5th gear you may have a wiring issue.

Code po746 Pressure solenoid A controlled clutch-stuck off. This is what shows. On drawing shows pcs1 solenoid. Every thing is fine at 60 mh in OD when a slight hill climb 2% or more red light on dash with temp. comes on and trans. drops back a gear and locks in gear. pull over turn key off start put in 4th gear no lights shifts normal. Drove 200 miles no problem except increase in fuel use.

This code can be caused by a sticking valve, bad solenoid, turbine or output erratic sensor readings. If the problem only occurs after trans is hot you should suspect a sticking valve or solenoid breaking down.It could also be a problem with chassis wiring if it is not temp related.
When this code is active while the trans is in a forward range it will shift to the previous range and lock up operation will be inhibited which may explain the overheat light coming on.
If I were you I would check the harness for anyplace that may be rubbing against the trans or frame area, maybe drain the fluid and remove the pan to check for possible debris(worse case ) If everything checks ok the solenoid P/N is 29533074- it is located on the right rear of the valve body.

Thanks for the part number. Last week changed solenoid, went on vacation no problem climbed 9% grades travled 350 miles didn't miss a heart beat. On the way home about 200 miles it happened again once. Travled another 120 miles ok. Five miles before home happen again. Thinking of pulling plunger and looking for score marks. Thanks for your help again.

Still having problems with red light on. Went to start up to day turned key on light came on. I did pull piston in valve body and cleaned with crocus cloth no help. Im at my wits end. Is there two pistons in front of solenoid.

I have all the trouble shooting info for this DTC.If you can get me an address to send it to. I think this could be a tricky one to solve. The way the a&b solenoids energize and deenergize to control oncoming clutches is hard to understand much less explain. Some times what seems like a problem with one may actually be caused by the other.
