I do not have a metal dipstick on the Allison 3000 in our 07 Holiday Rambler Imperial. The cap looks like a normal dipstick , but there in no long steel measure attached to it. What gives?

Push the up and down buttons together and see if you have the electronic oil level sensor. Its operation should be detailed in your operators' manual, assuming the vehicle came with the manual.

The stick may have separated from the "cap". And that means that the stick is down inthe tube leading to the transmission sump pan. I've never looked at that particular part of my Allison but it may be like most other transmissions and the tube the stick goes in can be separated from the pan. If that can be done you can then retrieve the stick. Actually on most mohos the stick is actually a stiff cable with a piece of steel attached at the bottom on which you can read the fluid level.

Just to chime in, that is certainly possible. Most motorhomes do have a stick even if the have the level sensor.

We have friends with a HR as you describe, think it is an 05. They have no dipstick and read the trans. fluid state from the readout on the trans. keypad. That is the only check.
