Operators Manual

Recent cold weather projects included downloading and saving virtually every manual on our Damon, EXCEPT Allison. Seems they are only company that will not let you save the manual. Bummer. Just trying to leave 15 plus pounds of O & M manuals at home.

Nope it is 2000. They had some cut-off date on free, you must have got yours before. Thank you anyhow. Maybe someone will have it. Read mine, very boreing read. If I come up short on anything in my digital library, this is a good choice.

Yes, but have you searched online? The manual would not be easy to copy. Well on second thought, I think I have a electronic version... yep, will attach it.

See if that helps.

Oh, I see that someone already sent this one.

Thanks Romeo but I have that one. It is for the MH series and not MD. I don't really know the difference.

I have some troubleshooting manuals on the MD 3060 but no operators manual. I do have the link for an operator manual that was in another thread but you can't save it to the HD. Besides it does not appear to have an oil change procedure.

I am going to change the oil soon and I have to find proper method to drain the torque converter.

I will probably talked to my distributor. I have not done an extensive search yet.

Thanks again

When I found that manual I didn't notice that it was for the MH. Since I have the MD manual I really haven't used that one. I will look at my MD manual to see if I can copy it easily.

Thanks Romeo,

but that won't be necessary. I have a link to the manual so I will probably just print it out. I cannot just download the file to my HD.

http://www.allisontransmission.com/s...t=OM2995EN.pdf

I am thinking that I need to buy a service manal. Hopefully the correct method of fluid change will be in there. I don't know when my fluid has been changed or do I know what I have so I may send a sample to Blackstone to know for sure and see what shape it is in. I really hate to put synthetic is this old gal since it works great right now. I will call Allison for advice after I get the Blackstone report.

Thanks Romeo

I didn't have any problem saving it to my HD, so I will attach the file.

My recollection is that there wasn't any detailed service information in my Allison manual, either. A service manual might be nice to have, but then again, it may have more information that we operators really need. I think once someone points out where the filters are and any other service points, that maybe all we need.

There are several on the forum that do their own Allison service so they may be helpful.

That does it Romeo. Thanks. I also found a pdf showing the oil change procedure and it never mentions draining the torque converter.

With my Ford truck I have to drain the TC seperately to get all the fluid out. Evidently it is not required for the Allison.

Thanks again.

Good point, I think it may need some consideration.

I have no first hand knowledge, however, in discussing a transmission service with two different shops, I have found that the TC is a consideration, and does not appear to drain with the normal draining of the transmission.

I found this out when discussing the change from standard fluid to Transynd. One shop said they can flush the transmission and the converter at one time with a limited amount of fluid. The other shop had some other way of ensuring the torque converter was flushed (or the fluid was drained completely) that required much more fluid.

I'm not sure draining the TC is a concern unless the fluid is really burnt, and if one is not changing to a different fluid. However, I will keep an open mind on the subject until I hear more on the subject from those more experienced.

I will just have to find out. The procedure I have now does not mention it. But a flush would probably do it. For my Truck I rotate the converter to a plug and then drain. Then when you refill you have to start engine and run it through the gears before loading. Don't think this is possible with my Allison

Oh I was confused when you were able to save that file. So I switched browsers and I was able to download and save it. my IE8 won't do it.

It appears that without intent I have hyjacked this thread since I got off the main subject. Apologies everyone. Should have started new thread.

Thanks for the help Romeo.
