Replacing 4" sump filters

Just replaced the 4" sump filters but only got 2 -2.5 quarts of fluid. Thought I read where you would end up losing 1.5/2.0 gallons. Dipstick shows it to be just a little low at the cold mark.

Is this what I should expect?

Also, bought the filters from Fleetguard and received the 2" sump filters. My fault for ordering the wrong one with the wrong measurement. Picked up the right set this morning from Peterbilt right down the road from me.

Guess I will put the 2" kit on ebay.

I own a 2002 Windsor, last time I replaced the filters I lost less then a gallon of oil. There is definitely a difference reported by different people.

Also, I quite using the dipstick to measure the oil level. I use the key pad, which is the recommended method to check the oil.

Once you've driven the coach to get it warm, park on a level spot, set the park brake and put the coach in neutral. Wait for ~2 minutes for the transmission oil to settle. With the engine running press the up and down arrow at the same time. If the temp is warm enough and you waited long enough you should get letters on the display, OL then OK. Or you could see OL -1 which is 1 quart low, or OL +1, 1 quart to high. If you see 01 to 08, and it is counting down you didn't wait long enough for the oil to settle down. I may also give you a code saying the transmission isn't hot enough.

Here is a link to a quick guide manual showing how to check using the touch pad.

I just replaced the transmission fluid and filters in my coach, It has a 4" sump and uses 6" filters. I got about 3.5 gallons out of the drain plug. Then a gallon and a half out of the filter access. I got about 1 gallon from one and half from the other. I'd think you'd get less with 4" filters and a 2" sump.

Shallow (2") sumps take 4" filters and deep (4") sumps take 6" filters.

I did just my 4000 MH trans filters a couple months ago. Drained out just less than half a gallon with the 2" sump.
