I called Speedco in Vegas the other day and asked if they could change the fluid in my Allison. At first the guy said yes but then asked me if my trans was a manual shift. When I said it was an automatic he said they only change manual trans fluid. Is this true in other places?

Yes, Speedco will not do an Allison. I had the same experience, so I did it my self. The local Allison shop wanted over $550. I paid about $400 for fluid & filter kit & did it in a couple of hours.

I live in Vegas and just purchased the filters and fluid to change mine from the freightliner shop off of I15 and Craig.

There may be some mobile guys who will do the oil change where you are parked. Some RV parks freak out at the thought, but the mobile guys who do that usually come fully prepared to catch the oil, plenty of rags, etc.

I lucked out. I called Freightliner and asked what they did in regard to my trans when I had a major service done in January. They had noted that they checked the trans and found the filters had been replaced recently and the fluid as well. I'm good for another year.

I am looking to change my tanny fluid and filters also. I called a local Allison Service Center in the Tampa area and got a price of $350.00. I thought that was high, but I see now that it's a reasonable price. However, to use the synthetic oil, it goes way up, because that oil is $30.00 a gallon and I will need just under 10 gallons. I called Lazy Days to get a price and they never called back, so they lost the job.

Freightliner in Las Vegas wanted $750 to change mine to Synthetic. they lost out. SpeedCo had a super great price on Engine Oil change but as stated they will not touch the Allison. While heading East I stopped in Las Cruces NM and had an Allison/Cummins truck shop complete the service adn change to Transynd for $350 and this included flushing the torque convertor. They charged $32 per gallon for the Transynd.

I think you have a MH3000 Allison transmission and it takes 19 quarts to change the fluid.

Last year had our fluid (Transynd) changed and all filters (high capacity/gold) at Allison in Phoenix -- total was less than $600. Tranny is a 3060MH. Check with an Allison dealer/distributor.

You are correct. I have the MH3000 Allison. The 4000 takes 39 qts. or about 10 gallons...whew! With the synthetic fluid running $38.00 a gallon (here in Tampa), that's a bunch$$$$. I just hade mine changed yesterday and paid right at $400.00, using the synthetic fluid.

Hmmm, I wonder if a Fumoto valve will fit the Allison...
