Angry Trans. problem on Labor Day

Left campground this AM. Very sluggish getting on highway. Got about a mile and noticed no speedometer reading. Trans seemed to be stuck in 2nd or 3rd (?) and rpms were at 3000. By then we were into Hill City , SD and stopped. Coach-Net can't get a Rapid City service facility until tomorrow. I have an Allison 2000s. RV has 79,000 miles. Just had engine and gen set service at Cummins before leaving on trip. Anyone have any insight? Thanks.

Trans may be in limp in . Stuck in second gear because it has lost communication with a speed sensor. There should be 2 , one on the bell housing and one on the tail shaft, check the wiring for rodent damage, and that it's secure in the sensor plugs.
Hope this pdf file helps you retrieve a code, to help with checking thing out.

Skip,
Just crawled under to check wiring. Didn't see any visible damage. No loose wires. Not sure where the sensor conections are. Wiring harness feels solid.
I appreciate your help. "Limp in" mode describes what was going on.
I think I'll use a tow tomorrow rather than try to drive to Rapid City.

Thanks for your help.

After a tow to shop and an overnight wait for an Allison tech, it turns out the problem was a loose electric plug going into the relay/fuse box. After road test, all was normal. Wish I could have found it. Glad there was no real trans problem.

As with all electrical repairs , finding the exact problem is 99% of the battle.
When looking for electrical issues , I'd rather be lucky than good.

Thanks for posting the fix , and I'm glad your back on the road.
