Yes,well maybe. All Allisons are built and tested with transyn, but the chassis manufacturer may put dino oil in there.I think I was told by Allison that the trannys are shipped to the manufacturer without fluid. So,check with the chassis people that put it all together, they would know for sure.

Should have Transynd, check your warranty, if it is 5 year or 200k, it has it.

The 3000MH Allison transmission has been using Transynd since Transynd was first introduced. Allison transmissions used in Workhorse chassis, 2000 Series, and the 1000 MH have Transynd since mid-year 2005 or earlier I believe. Currently (2006 and up) all the "MH" series transmissions are filled with Transynd.

I'm not sure if you are asking about a P/U truck. Call any Chevy/GMC truck dealer to find out.

In my owners manual it lists different transmission oil part #'s for the 5 speed Allison and the 6 speed Allison transmission oil. I would contact Frequently Asked Questions: Service: Allison Transmission
and give them the model and serial #'s of your transmission. A new transmission is near $4,000. Making sure you put the correct oil in yours is prudent.

I'm in the confused state right now.
I have a '08 Winnebago Tour 40TD. It showed a bit low on trans fluid so I called around and found only 2 Allison reps in the area that carried it. I called the closest, 35 miles away, and they assured me that they did definetly carry it and would put a gallon at the parts counter w/ my name on it. Got there and it wasn't Transyd but rather "Fleetrite" brand. He assurred me that it was the exact same, and came from the same manufactuer but labled under a different name. This, he promised, was they same and was what they replaced with on all Allison transmissions. It did say on the label "Approved for all Allison Transmissions". I read that Transynd is gold in color, this is red. I called them back again after I got home and asked again about the difference and the man assured me it was the same and that is what will replace the original to manf. specs.
I filled the MH but I need reassurance, this will be our permanent home in early 2010 and I won't be able to take it to this dealer if it breaks down six months or after some miles.
How about it Forum friends? Should I drain it, replace filters and find REAL Transynd? Or am I fretting needlessly?
Thanks, Mike and Mo

The Allison web site lists Fleetrite as "approved".

You're OK.

I changed the spin-on filter on the 09 Safari with the 1000MH Allison 6sp trans. It had a chassis built date of july 08. The fluid in the filter and on the large washer magnet was Cherry Red. The gallon jug of Transynd fluid I purchased at the Allison dist for $31.80 w tax. is Cherry Red. Use 8 to 10 oz for the filter swap.

The local chevy dealer did not know what transynd was, and he wanted about $40.00 for the spin on filter. The Allison servicer in Sacramento, Valley Power Systems, sold me a gallon, (they did not have quarts), of transynd for $32.00, and the filter was $8.82. The service manager even offered to change the spin on filter at no charge. Do not forget to change the filter at 5000 mi.
