2018 1 ton GCWR

My owners manual is stating that my 3500 duramax has GCWR is 25.300 lbs . Everything on line is saying will tow up to 23 300 lbs . What is the difference ? I though the 23300 was the GCWR .

2018 Chevrolet Trailering and Towing Guide shows the GCWR of 25,300 for 2WD...same as your reference. Trailer weigh ratings vary based on what cab, bed, 2 or 4 WD and conventional or 5th wheel type trailer connection. For example, Crew Cab, long bed, 4 WD, conventional trailer wt is listed as 15,000 lbs and for 5th wheel, 17,000 lb wt rating. Other combinations likewise are logical.

GCWR (or any weight rating) is determined by the manufacture with a bunch of factors considered. These factors include rider comfort, peak suspension performance, tire loading, engine power, even marketing input, and many other factors. Manufacture weight ratings are not set with imminent catastrophic equipment failure limits if the weight is ever exceeded, but you may experience a bumpier ride.
There are no private operator legal restrictions for exceeding GCWR. Note sparks from MC frame!

That looks like my scale ticket, almost to the pound. I have a 100 gal aux tank and Honda VTX 1300 on board.
