2001 Dodge 2500 5.9 diesel. Put 2 new lift pumps on during the first 50,000 miles. Lots of starter grinding with the engine stumbling and trying to start when the pumps quit. Got worried the injector pump and injectors may not have been adequately lubricated. Now with the ultra low sulfur fuel I use Stanadyne. Insurance I hope. Last new lift pump was installed in the fuel tank at 50,000 miles. 160,000 now. So far so good.

I have used Power Kleen ( in the grey bottle) for years
I've had my engine start to run bad due to injector's. Run a tank of fuel with it added to it. Cleaned the right up
So I add it now once a month or so

FYI, Cummins now recommends using an additive to increase lubricity. I don't use any additive but I do run B2 - B20 in my LB7. Biodiesel is the most effective lubricant available, and the most cost-effective.

I have a2012 Duramax and just got the dreaded DEF quantity poor light. Called my mech and he deleted the DPF and installed a straight pipe with a muffler. He unplugged the EGR and I had him put in a Airdog lift pump. He also put in a single small tow tune. He said the best thing to do for a duramax is put in a lift pump. The Airdog takes out the air of the fuel and provides a solid stream to the CP4 Fuel pump and injectors. My mechanic also said use only quality Diesel like Love's truck stop.
Doesn't recommend a fuel additive . On another forum the CP4 Pumps that cratered ALL had water ingestion issues. So good fuel is imperative.

Stanadyne is what I use in the winter. Northern winters can be quite brutal as temps reach below zero. Never a problem with using it. 180k and no problems.

Stanadyne or diesel clean here. Only do about half dosage but do it with every fillup. Over 200,000 miles on the 06 6.6L. No issues.
