First Duramax was a 2001 far better than my 2000 454 Cu.
Towed great all 8 injectors replaced about 100,000 traded
Second 2008 even better truck no motor or Tranny issued and 6 speed better than 5
Currently have a 2015 High Country and amazing truck tows 17,000 lb like it's not there First truck with DEF many people complain but fine by me no Diesel smell
All have been DRW

I have owned my '06 3500 DRW LBZ since 2007 with 30,000 miles now 115,000. The only issue I have experienced is a bad #2 glow plug which I changed out myself. I recently had the ECM reprogrammed for economy/tow and EGR delete at Kennedy Diesel in Wisconsin and have picked up about a 1.5 mpg in regular driving and towing (16.5 mpg 75 mph empty and 12.5-13.2 mpg towing a Montana HC 318RE 60 mph or 11.5-12.5 mpg at 65 mph. I would love a new truck but cannot fathom the prices for them. I recently added a 40 gallon aux tank and a Pioneer AVIC7100 stereo/blutooth/navigation/backup camera that does more than the DW's cadillac. I think I will keep it for another 10 years.

Sweet truck.you have with low miles. LBZ is one of the best IMO. that should last you for a long time. My 08 LMM has 175k miles now. Had tunes, 5dsp done by PPEI and trans built by Evan Droshn at limitless diesel with suncoast 1078 converter. Pulls our 17k 5th wheel like a train. Only thing is in the northern country winters eat them up. I have to have both rockers and cab corners replaced this year. You have a sweet truck, hang on to it.

ive towed with most of them, and I have a 2018 which is the l5p engine. There is no tuning for them, and ive never towed with anything like it, way better than the lml i was towing with stock for stock. im pulling the trailer in my sig which loaded is 10680 and if i dont set the cruise ill look down and be going 80.

I would stay away from late 2007 to 2011 D-max due to poor performance caused by de-tuning to meet emissions standards and the previously mentioned LB7's. The 2012's and newer are much better then the older ones.

I have an 2004 6.6 2500HD which I owned from day one. Have gone through the injectors once and now passing 250,000 miles w/o any problems except for wear and tear on replaceable items. When time comes, I will replace engine with 2006, more power and no DEF, go through transmission, refresh upholstery and give her a new paint job. Should save 30K over purchasing a new one that is just like it. Besides mine is already set up for towing.
