Rotella 15W40, DIC tells me when to change, per GM advice. 2002 Chevy D/A, 108,xxx miles. Have never needed to add oil between changes.

Where do you get 15w-40 Shell Rotella synthetic. I would be in favor of using that then 5w- 40syn. I change every 6000 miles and it seems like a waste of the syn oil.

When new I started using 15w-40 Rotella and then started using 5w-40 Rotella syn. Im just wondering being tht I change every 6000 miles if I would be better using nonsyn. or would it not be a good idea to go from syn to a nonsyn with 80000 on it

I have a 2007 Duramax and use Shell Rotella 15w40. I change oil & filter every 5000 miles. I have 82,000 miles on the engine and am afraid to change to synthetic. Couldn't it cause problems? I guess I'm just old school, I've always heard you shouldn't change from what you have been using!!!!!

This is my first diesel, and it had 70,000 miles on it when I bought it. Another question I have is how often should you change your fuel filter? I've heard every other oil change or at 15,000 mile intervals.

I change our fuel filter one time each year during the summer. truck sits all summer waiting for the tow south for 6 months. 6000 miles a year . I have cut and looked at the filter and 6000 miles shows me I would not go 15000 miles. I do the work so it is affordable for the job and makes me feel good towing our fifth. I carry all filters behind the rear seat.

I use Shell Rotella 5w-40 Syn it a 2006 Durmax with 80000 miles on it and I change every 6000 miles. the reason of this message is that I was wondering what or would it be a bad thing to change to shell rotella 15w-40. I started out using new 15w-40 and then switched to syn. around 30000 miles. Thanks for yor reply.

Shell Rotella 15-40, '07 Duramax, 94,000 miles (just about all towing). Chage when the DIC is at 10% which is usually 8-9000 miles. Runs like a top.
