'07 6.0 Liter Synthetic Engine Oil

Reviewing the owners manual, it shows that i should use 15w40 oil for the temp range i normally run in. I've always had good luck w/Rotella synthetic oils in all my vehicles.

Rotella has a diesel specific synthetic oil (T6) 5w40. Is there a problem if i use this oil instead of a standard 15w40 diesel oil?

Thanks in advance for your expert feedback?

No it's way better to use 5W40 synthetic, especially on a 6.0
Usually, don't go much over 5k miles no matter what, unless you get a UOA test.

5-40 is a great oil. Especially with HUEI fired injectors like that on the 6.0L. Also make sure you use genuine Motorcraft oil filters as there is a lot of documentation that many of the aftermarket filters do not work properly because of patent laws on the OEM. Many will not close the oil by pass fully allowing unfiltered oil into the engine.

I'll just say...what they said! T6 5w-40 is probably the best oil for your engine. Many also use and recommend an additive either Rev-X or Archoil at each oil change. In addition to the synthetic oil these additives help control/limit injector stiction. Also what James said above about the filters is 100% correct. Use ONLY Motorcraft.
