During casual conversation with a few customers, some have mentioned they sometimes have issues with the DPF and the regen cycle during long grades pulling their campers and gooseneck trailers with their 6.4L powerstroke.
A few have claimed their truck will go into a regen mode and it becomes very difficult to pull the hill or grade, ever decreasing sped as they go. I have no personal experience driving a 6.4 and have only heard of this issue one time with a buddies Duramax which was programmed with EFILive at the time.
Anyone have any experiences such as this?
Thanks,

Sounds like Ford undersized the DPF, and probably derates the fuel delivery in those circumstances so the regen can keep up w/the soot production. If that's true, they are cheating on the HP/torque claims vs. the GVCW rating and they should have a caveat that the HP will derate on long climbs. If I had paid good money for a new Ford diesel (I saw a windshield sign the other day on a Ford lot for $43,900, holy cow!!) and found I could not pull my trailer all day w/regulation power, I'd be pissed.

A $43900 Ford diesel is actually kind of low--mine stickered at $62165. I haven't had any regen issues on my last trip to CO--yes it does regen, but, no, it hasn't affected towing.

Is yours the F450? I see a lot of thoes in my neck of the woods here in Ohio listing for $58k and up. I purchased a 6.0L over five years ago and its sticker was $44k back then. I would think I was geting a deal if I paid $43,900 for one today

Yes, a 450. The sticker was $62165--a loaded Lariat model--and the XPlan was $55,550, then got $3500 rebate. Biggest problem was tradein value on the '07 F350 I had w/95k miles--$23500 on a truck that stickered at $53710. Used values have really risen since I traded, just my luck.

back to the OP.
I just towed my 5er from TX to PA. I climbed some hills along the way. My truck did go into REGEN many times but I never experienced a loss or reduction of power.
