Assist Struts

I am thinking about installing assist struts under the bed platform of our VSB and am wondering if anyone has already done this. The bed platform is a bear to lift with the mattress on it.

If you have, please share what size and where you bought the struts.

TIA.

Using the search box with the Google logo shows many threads and links to strut kits.

Looking closer at lifting kits and my bed, I won't be able to use struts as the bed moves with the slide and the box doesn't.

Now I understand why Renegade didn't do it for us .

Someone in the Jayco Seneca forum fashioned a bracket that goes where the bed is hinged and has added a strut this way. I think it was a person called Robbbyr. You might go to that forum and search.

How often do you need to go under the bed? At least on my Verona 36VSB you can't store anything as its occupied by the two 75 gallon tanks and piping. Only time required would be for winterizing.

As heavy as it is, you only need to lift it once to hurt yourself.

But, it won't work as I noted in earlier as the bed moves while the base is stationary.

Can you explain how the bed works? I see on the floorpan the slide out, but you are saying the base doesn't move, but the bed and plywood platform move? So when the slide is in, the bed platform is extending well beyond the end of the base.

That is correct. The top of the platform moves (the part with the mattress on it) and the base is fixed in place IF you have a bedroom bed slideout.
