The old pull out awnings of carefree worker great. Once down turn the nut and it was good except in strong winds. With the one I have now it is just held down with the cylinder. Just go old school and your good. I think the girard need backing during MFG to be sturdy enough.

I just returned home from a 5 day camping trip. The last day I was there I had put the carefree awning out and sat under it for a while. Wife called me inside and when I went back out the one side of the awning had once again broken and had fell about three feet. I ended up having to hold that side of the awning up while the wife pushed the button to roll it in. I had just gotten the motor home back from General in Dover for the same problem. They said they had replaced a rivet. But if they did it sure a piss poor one. I am very unhappy with this P O S. I would think if carefree monitered this forum they would see how unhappy we all are with this awning. If I was a younger man I would attempt to make the repair myself but at 82 I have no business on top of ladders. So I guess back to the dealer again.
