Dodge M500/600 Hub/Drum Interchange
Hi Guy's it's been a while since I was on the forum. I've been busy with a project that I'll quickly describe: I have a 77 Dodge M500 MH chassis that I intend to position a 48 Dodge COE. The placement is pretty well figured out; but, I have a problem. I am trying to put a 96 Dodge 5.9 Cummins in the project; that leads to a significant issue with rear gear ratios (3.56) and the Cummins low RPM range; I think my answer is to put larger rim/tires on the front and rear. The M500 has a 5 lug Budd Wheel pattern and I "need" 6 hole 22.5 rims; The M600 has the correct 6 lug pattern both front and rear; both the M500 and M600 have 4x15 rear brake drums (I don't yet know if the axel bearings are the same. The front hubs for both the M500 and M600 utilize the same disc brake components - what I really need to know is will the M600 hubs fit the M500 front axel/spindle and will the rear drums (bearings) of the M600 fit the rear of the M500? Your knowledgeable help will be greatly appreciated. Jim
