I sold a 2015 Chev LTZ Duramax full size truck and replaced it with the Canyon for the same reason. I gotta say I am really liking it. The small Diesel will pull a 6% grade in high gear and not shift down. Its got all the room you need. Will pull almost 7000 lbs and gets almost 30 miles to the gallon at 72.
Whats not to like.

Oh..... It pulls great behind the coach also. If you get one I can give you a list of the equipment I put on it to tow.

Ok boys I wanna play now....

Frank, I'm REALLY interested in your next post, as the little woman and I put our name on a 40 LE LTS that we'll pick up at North Trail on Tuesday....

For the record, I'll be dragging a '16 F150 short bed CC.

Very happy considering a good portion of it was going over the Blues mountain range. IWS was great and had us on the road in about 3 hours. Next stop was Wagonhammers RV Resort just north of Salmon Idaho for a 3 night stay. Nice and peaceful, Literally right on the river and other than the smoke from all the fires a great place to recharge the old batteries. Coach once again was flawless.

a quick question Frank, et. all
How are you guys calculating generator use ?
I am assuming you probably didn't use the genny on your trip.
So the trip we just took was 214 miles and we took 33.3 gals.
so just doing that math I come up with 6.42mpg... not bad, still better than the gasser we used to have.
But I ran the genny about 10 hrs. on that trip...

IF I take a gal. an hr. that gives me 214 miles and 23.3 gals and now I'm at
9.18 MPG !

I've heard a gal. an hr. I've heard 1/2 gal an hr. of genny use.
I truly don't know what a good number is. even 1/2 gal an hr. comes out to 7.56 mpg...
The trip was up to the mountains ( 7,000 ft. ) from phx, so a few hills.

Thanks for any info.
Bruce

The gen uses just over .5 gpm at half load and I think 1.1 at full load.

I always figured .7 per hour as a guess.

214 divided by 26 = 8.23 mpg.... Seems about right for an ISL. I got right around 8 pulling a toad and around 8.5 without in an Alpine coach that weighed right about the same as our coaches do and a 400/1200 ISL. And it was broken in. Take that 8.23 and add 15% for the L9 and the figures all make sense.

I believe yours is normal and will continue to get better as it breaks in. That takes 20 to 30k usually.

Frank

Thanks Frank, I like the .7 figure...
Also once I get some solar panels the genny usage should be about cut in half, that will help also.

20k - 30k miles ! that will take me 5-8 years ! at least at the pace I'm on now....

Thanks again.
Bruce

Its a Ford so Toad is fitting

Just kidding. We just delivered a 16 model to the port of Seattle where its going on a barge to a Navy guy in Hawaii. The new 15 and up Ford PUs are stellar

You gotta be getting excited. I actually found your rig online on the dealers site. Its absolutely stunning.

Blushing here a bit.... Thanks so much for the compliment.

After owning four diesel pushers over the years, I told the bestie I wanted to go in a different direction. So excited to bring her home next week and get her loaded and on the road.... The coach, that is.... not the bestie.

Guy comes home overly excited and when the wife asks what the deal is he reply's "Just found out I won the lottery baby, pack your bags"...

She excitedly asks "Where we going honey"

He reply's "Nowhere. I said pack YOUR bags"

I love the wife dearly but ya gotta admit... That there is funny

Frank...what is the digital display below your parking brake? TPMS screen?

We missed the Stanley Stomp but I will gladly make a return trip when you make your return to ring.

Is it Monday yet?

Yes. Its a TPMS. I believe in them. Cost less than one tire.

Return to the ring? Me? At 60? lol.... I was young and stupid once. lol
Now I believe there is no problem so large that you can't throw some money at it and make it go away.... The biggest baddest guy in the place will be your buddy and do the fighting for you for a couple hundred bucks
