M2 Lights

I was not very impressed with the head lights on the M2 and just could not swing the $750 each for the projection upgrade so...I installed the best Silverstream Ultra bulbs and that improved the beam drastically. I was still not content so I replaced the OEM driving/fog lights with a set of Rigid D-Series LED driving lights....Now they are lights! the LED beam is superb and really fills in nicely. I got some snap on yellow lens for foggy weather but really like the clear look. Check them out..made in the USA, lifetime warranty on the housing, look very cool in the bumper cut out. Thanks, Ron G.

Rigid Industries.com...check it out, look at road legal only. There is a company that will take your headlight assembly an do a projection upgrade. I do not recall the name but I know someone on this forum sent theirs in. It takes like a week for them to come back.

Do you recall what model # of the Silverstream Ultra you used? Also, where the Rigid' s "plug-n-play" or did you have to do some wiring and mounting work?

Reason I am asking is because I concur the OEM lights are pretty bad.

I am sorry I do not recall exactly what the number of the Silverstar Ultra was but it is a common number. the Rigid brand lights are very small like 2.5"X2.5" and fit perfectly into the spot where the OEM's are, they use the same bolt hole. there is two wires that must be spliced into the cut wires going to the OEM's. I utilized HD crimp connectors and shrunk wrap them and all is good to go. the entire job takes less than one hour.

And a follow-up question.
Do these Silverstar bulbs just plug into the existing headlight sockets ?
or did you have to modify the OEM plugs ?

Thanks Ron

For those looking for what Ron was referring to. I went with the upgrade and have been very pleased. Freightliner M2 Bi-Xenon Projector Headlight Upgrade – Deep Space Lighting

With that said, the Rigid upgrade to the fog lights is an excellent option. I too am considering additional Rigid lighting options but will hold off on until I decide on which route I go with a new front bumper with integrated brush guard. Deer, elk and moose are like field mice out here. Lighting is key!

I will check what the number of the SilverStar Ultra bulb is when I get my head above water! They just plug right into the OEM socket. I have yet to see any ill effects from extra heat the bulbs may generate. The Rigid's are just superb, pricey but worth every cent.
