rops,
My total height is either 13ft 2 or 13ft 4. I know I should know that but I am pretty sure over all is 13ft 4. I use a truckers gps as I travel. So far I have not run into any clearance issues traveling mostly WI, MN and IL. The gps has kept me on truck routes and I have missed turns at times ending up taking non truck routes without height issues or being able to turn corners even when towing my Suburban. Yes height includes the stuff on the roof.
Fully loaded I am running just shy of 44,000 lbs
My rig is 46 ft and would guess will be about 8,000-10,000lbs heaver then a 45 ft class A. This is only a guess based on the fact I had a 40ft class A DP before this rig. Someone with a 45 ft class A may better give you what their coach weight is. What I like best about having a truck conversion over a class A is: I am not as concern about being over weight or distribution of load. I feel so much more safe driving this with the engine in front than just a huge windshield, I can haul my heavy stuff in the back garage and not bending as much with the class A basement storage, Very solid nothing rattles except the silverware, I have a 30,000lb hitch rather than 10,000lbs. I have 150 gal of fresh water, and 75 gal black and gray. All my waterlines run above floor and holding tanks are heated, so cold weather travel is fine. I am sure there is so much more I am not even thinking of right now but there are also drawbacks having a rig like this also.
Feel free to send me an email if you have more questions and if you are serious with considering a truck conversion. I will be happy to call you and we can discuss the pros and cons as I see it. Happy to help.
