hi all. been looking at a lot of rvs. still havnt decided which way to go, but hope to be full timing by this time next year. anyway, i saw a superior bus conversion in lake havasu. nicely done interior, exterior not too bad. allegedly 45k on a 466 i think international with allison auto. engine sounds good, not leaking. suspension/steering fells pretty tight. got a few questions.

anyone know who made superior chassis??

are chassis/brake/steering parts still available??

any known issues with the 466 engine?? parts availability??

aside from a good regimen of preventive maintainance, what can i look for problem wise with a vehicle that old?? do these buses hold up ??

i know this old guy is getting long in the tooth, but looks like a pretty good unit. any input greatly appreciated, as my experience with rvs is next to none. thanks, regards. j.d.

The only Superior bus that comes to mind is something like this one:

http://www.dodgepowerwagon.com/sprouse/superior.htm

Converted school bus, is that what you are looking at?

Some problems others have come across with school bus conversions are (but not limited to) obtaining insurance, not allowed in many RV parks (too Hippy-looking) need to paint over the yellow exterior to be legal. You can purchase a great highway bus (MCI for one) or a city bus (GMC's are really slick) and then have something to be proud of. (My opionion, of course)

You might want to visit the
www.busconversions.com
web site and discuss bus conversions one the forum with the folks that have them - have converted them, etc. That is where I obtained my info over the years.

Don
MC8 (1976) bus conversion.
