Winter storage question

I will be winterizing our Verona LE next week. It will spend the winter at our campsite. Is it better to leave it connected to power to maintain the batteries or just power it down completely for the winter and recharge the batteries in April when we open it up for the season..

You could leave it plugged in to keep the batteries charged. If you take the batteries out they will self discharge so keep them charged with a smart charger. That way they won't get over charged should you forget to remove the dumb charger. Either way keep the water topped up.

Get a couple of NOCO solar panels to trickle charge the batteries. I have done it in previous years on my older unit, but since I keep this unit at home it's powered thru out during its parked time.

disconnect the power. disconnect the battery. use a trickle charger. I have no power at my winter storage so the battery gets disconnected for 8 months,

When we had our Class "A" in Upstate NY, we stored the unit indoors with the chassis and "House" batteries disconnected and (2) trickle chargers; one for each battery group. When I would check on it occasionally, I would turn on the "House" batteries, open the door and the steps would deploy - everything would be fine.

If you have sufficient solar then that should accomplish the same purpose, as being plugged into a 30amp circuit with trickle chargers.

After you read this, you will be sure that I am certifiably nuts, but when I lived in DC, which DOES have freezing temps into the teens and sometime below, I never winterized any RV or boat I owned. This allowed me to use them 12 months of the year (snow camping *is* fun).

With the coaches that didn't have an Aqua Hot, I just made sure I had plenty of propane or could get delivery. The Aqua Hots were just too much fun . I would leave the Aqua Hot on and generator on auto Start voltage and would go that way 3-4 months each year.

On my Wanderlodge I would use about 100 gals of diesel each year. BTW, I did that while the unit was in a storage lot for 3 years with permission from the owners of the lot. Since out side the smell didn't bother anyone nor the noise.

Yes I know that Murphy's law comes into play and I would never recommend anyone do this but if you can monitor your coach it does work and gives you flexibility and you can also tell others and they will try to commit you LOL.

Make sure the batteries are fully charged , then disconnect them by removing the negative cables. They will self discharge 5% per month so they will still be good in the spring. They will easily survive -40 temps.
