Hi all Need some in put. Looking to purchace a hauler. We have been looking at freightliner and international all seem to be very expesnsive compared to GM and Ford Yes we do know, you get what you pay for ( BUT ) The GM 4500 and the Ford 550 prices are hard to beat Truck for truck. What say YOU ?

we just purchased a brand new 2009 chevy kodiak c4500 in april. as you said the freightliners and international are so much more costly. we purchased the new 4500 for the around the price of a 5-6 year old freightliner. we traded a chevy 3500. the 3500 pulled our trailer ok but concern was over the braking as we were over the gcwr for the 3500. we are full time and towing a mobile suite. so far the kodiak has been doing a good job. it has the same duramax engine as the 3500 with a little more hp and torque. the kodiak has a much smaller turning raduis which makes maneuvering much easier. parking and backing the trailer is much easier. the engine power range seems to be at a little higher rpm than the 3500. it looks like we are getting around 10.5 mpg average between towing and driving as this is our grocery getter also. they said we should get 10-13.
