Fiat 500 Toad

Hello,

Really would love to take my Fiat 500 along when I take my jump to full time Rver. So one thought I had was extending the frame out long enough to accomadate loading the car between the back of the cab and the Rv lengthwise. Would it be practical as that would make it difficult to have a trailer longer then about 35ft (to keep overall length less then 65 ft. and of course to remove the car the RV would have to be detached from the truck and then you would then have to have ramps to be able to drive the car off the bed of the truck. I think at a minimum you would need to have at least a HDT with a 280" wheelbase or more. Would this be even practical?

Dave

Dave, You'll have more answers and interest over in the Escapee's HDT Forum... RVNetwork.com
The is also a large presence on Facebook. Search HDT
But yes, you can run the Fiat lengthways. 280" wheelbase can be shortened depending on if you want to remain tandem axle or if you single the truck. Tandem you can stay shorter since you won't be transferring the weight as far forward. Is there a particular reason you want to stay in the 65' length. Could you go 67-69'? It opens your possibilities more.
