03 Pace Arrow serpentine belt?
Can I inspect or see my serpentine belt by taking the inside floor cover off over the engine compartment on my 2003 Pace Arrow? Its on a 22 Workhorse chassis.
There is 51k miles on the engine now, should I be concerned about the condition of the serpentine belt? New Class A owner here!

I have an 2002 pace arrow with 35k on it and my looks very good.I looked at from underneath the coach.

Its setting about 40 miles away at the dealers storage lot. I'll check it out.

I replaced mine with only 20k miles, only about $30 and doesn't take that long to replace. Keep the old one for a spare, I'd rather not have a problem on the road that I could have avoided for $30.

Very good advice!!! You do not need a failure on the road, the belt may cost over $100!

I replaced my belt along with the alternator about a year ago (~50k miles). The belt looked good before it was removed but once I had it off and could good look at it, it was time for replacement, had some 'missing blocks'. The belt is cheap and at ~10 years and 50k miles I decided it was time. Same thing with the hoses, I will be replacing the antifreeze soon and all the rubber hoses and thermostat.
About the doghouse, there is a small hatch in the doghouse that is intended to be removed, the doghouse is not intended to be removed. It is sealed with a black gooey adhesive. When you pull the doghouse up off the floor it will get stringy and all over everything. Don't ask me how I know...

I replaced mine from under the MH, 10 - 15 minutes is all it took. Do a search on the different brands, I ended up with a Gates.

Change it now and carry a new spare with you-- Money well spent. You'll feel alot better cruising down the highway.
Here is "Oemy's" link on how to change it.
I broke one several years ago and I went exactly 1/4 mile before I overheated! It was a side of the road (interstate) repair and I was carrying a spare.

If you can change it your self, more power to you.
I had changed my a few years ago and I am not looking foreward to doing it again.
If and when you take it in for an oil change have them change it for you.
Just a thought.

The serpentine belt is located at the very front of the engine. I'm not familiar with the specifics of a Pace Arrow; but judging from my Allegro Bay, it is doubtful the inside cover is far enough forward to allow you to see the belt from inside the coach. You will probably need to climb underneath to see it.
As others have suggested, it is probably a good idea for you to replace the belt. The life of the belt is measured in time as well as mileage. $30 for a new belt is cheap insurance to avoid getting stranded along the road somewhere. Keep the old belt for a spare. You may also want to consider replacing the tensioner.
See part numbers on Oemy's website, which also has a lot of other good Workhorse info.

I just did this about 2 weeks ago. Not hard at all. I also replaced the idler and tensioner. Total cost about $130 and 1 hour of time. It can be done by one person but it is easier if you have someone working the belt from the top and bottom.
I have updated the parts list numbers.
