The LCD on our Sunova is starting to fade but as of yesterday, is still easily readable.

Since i don't depend on mileage for oil change intervals and the such, i wouldn't be afraid to drive it if it did have a non readable LCD. I'd be fine as long as the temp gauge, fuel gauge, and the idiot lights worked. However, this is something i would want to have repaired when i could as there's no doubt it would affect resale value.

The Actia display also shows what gear you are in - without that visability, you are driving blind and changing gears by touch - not a good thing !!

Spend the money and get it back to where it is safe and useful --

Mine was messed up as well but I am glad I got it fixed. I find it especially useful downshifting going down hills and because the blue LCD is so visible it only takes a glance to verify the gear as before it was a pain to figure out.

Not sure i'm understanding this. Mine is an automatic, i put it in D (on the steering column) and go. Even when driving in hills/mountains, it's still easy to hear what the engine and transmission are doing. Even easier to look at the tachometer. I can always manually adjust my gearing when needed. Answering the OP's question, the vehicle can be driven this way if need be.

I do agree, i'd have it repaired or replaced as soon as i could if it was unusable.

Thanks guys for the quick response! I dig the bit about the gear display, however my unit has the good old fashioned Chevy quadrant right where you' expect it!! and as I mostly cruise at 2500 RPM I'd very soon notice a bad gear choice! If that's all I'm missing, that's fine, My added gauges will TCO the engine room just as my Bowden cable has fixed Mr Evans HVAC disaster.

Module Master done mine, removed the dash, sent it to them, had it back in about 5 to 6 days. Very happy with their work, the blue and white read out is a lot easier to see.299.00 included return shipping.
