For some reason I can't get Workhorse to answer my question. My owner's manual and plaque on the door states to inflate my tires to 90psi front and 85 rear. However, the WH site specifies it should be 100 front and 90 rear. All things being equal (weight of load, etc.) which should I follow? For years I've followed my owner's manual. Now I'm beginning to wonder.

Conventional wisdom is to weigh the four corners of your coach, then go to the tire manufactures inflation tables.

Assuming you have Michelin tires, you can find the tables here.

You and I have basically the same coach. I am near GVW and run all four tires between 90 to 95 lbs. This is a little more than the table, but gives me a margin for error.

Good luck,

Bill

Hello Golden and welcome to IRV2 !!

While there will be a variety of answers about your tire pressure question, I found that having the MH weighed, minimizing the load distribution differences and then following the Michelin charts worked best for me. I use 90 up front and 85 in the rear along with a pressure monitoring system.

Let me also welcome you to IRV2.

Next you may want to update your profile with a bit of rig info so we have we can better answer your questions.

Now as to what is correct.. WCC and/or the OEM coach builders tire pressure recommendations. Probably neither.

You need to get the four corners weighed with fuel, water, driver and co-pilot on board. IE - In road trim. Then take the heaviest corner on each axle and add 500 lbs. Now consult you tire chart and go from there.

I just weighed a coach last Saturday. The front axle was 4570/4520 and the rear axle was 7060/7020.

Welcome!
I can attest to the weighing the coach at the corners to determine the proper tire inflation. I had mine weighed on the corners right after purchase at the GNR. The tire pressure was then determined by looking at the tire manufacturer's site. The proper tire pressure was considerably lower even using a safety margin as opposed to the sticker, manual or WH. The resulting change in pressure improved the ride considerably!

Thanks for the welcome.

I've been unable to find anywhere near where I live that is capable of weighing all four corners and have had to rely on CAT scales instead. I normally am within 500 lbs of my GVWR when traveling and try to insure that the weight is distributed as evenly as possible.

My profile is up-to-date but doesn't display as do the others. Obviously, I'm missing a step or two. Also, in my profile there is no place to list my TOAD, etc.

If you can find your way into your "profile", click on the EDIT feature near the upper right corner. Then upon the next screen, slide all the way to the bottom and you will find a Signature box...type your info in there. Then save it.

Welcome to the forums, GOLDEN.

Nice job on your sig. May I suggest you go back into it and add your chassis model info. There are a few differences in the W-22 and W-24, and we can't "see" which you have. ED

ED,

I don't think the W-24 was available in 2004.

One other item regularly missed by many is to periodically check tire wear. Purchase a tread depth gage at any auto parts store. They are cheap. Check the tires for wear. It should be even all the way across the tread if the tires are properly inflated. If it is more in the center, they are overinflated. If it is more on the outside edge, they are underinflated.
