If you flushed your block and radiator how much coolant would you use when filling to have a 50 50 mix

the owners manual says the capacity of the system is 23.5 quarts. When you refill, be sure you re-check the level in the radiator after driving the unit because you "can" trap air and it may take a while to purge. Don't rely on the level in the overflow bottle-wait for radiator cap to cool down, then slowly remove and check level. Good luck. ED

Mix your antifreeze with water to 50:50 before adding to the radiator.

BTW, Winnebago's coolant capacity is defendant on the length of the lines going to the water heater and the axillary coach heater (ie: the MotorAid system).

Permanet (5 year) Anti-freeze that is sold at Walmart is ALREADY mixed 50% don't add distilled water to it as it would then be too weak to work.

Regarding the suggestion to pre-mix before adding

Some years ago I had a car radiator freeze up on me, Now, understand I had a proper 50/50 mix in it, had had it there from some time, but it never fully mixed NEVER,

So now when I add I either add antifreeze or 50/50 pre-mix (All engines not just the workhorse)

So far on the Workhorse I've not had to add.. But I likely should check it next spring before I drive (Not a problem this month I fear, no chance of overheating any time soon

I carry 100% AF (Dexcool) in my storage bin. If I need to top off my recovery tank, it's easier to get water so I'll do the 50/50 mix when I add the coolant to the recovery tank.

John-D would you mind explaining the above statement. Assumming you ran the engine, I do not see how it would be possible for the water and anti-freeze not to mix. I say this having a great deal of expierience of adding both pre mixed, and separate solutions of water and anti-freeze to automobiles for many years in my past life.

Hello All,

When you put new coolant in the radiator-- you must put the heater on full hot to circulate and mix that fluid also

No need for distilled water. Actually distilled water has an affinity for some metals.

You'll have half as many gallons to buy and tote to the car, and probably save some $$s, if you buy straight antifreeze and mix it 1:1 with tap water.

Anti Freeze keeps water from freezing so having the proper mixture of coolant is essential.
